ADHD coaching is a relatively new field but is something we at ADHDadultUK firmly believe to be helpful. Coaching often complements ADHD medication and other therapies. ADHD coaching specifically targets the core impairments of ADHD such as poor planning, bad time management and disorganisation.
ADHD coaches work with their clients who have (or think they have) ADHD to address specific needs and personal goals. A good ADHD coach will have experience with the condition and will account for the core symptoms of ADHD, although most coaching focuses on the management of impairments rather than inattentiveness or hyperactivity/impulsivity themselves. A coach can help you work out where you are now, where you want to get to and how you might get there.
Coaches also help people with ADHD learn how ADHD symptoms impact their daily lives. Coaches primarily use questions to help their ADHD clients reflect and discover their own answers to these questions.
